Boat House
 Hotel Fact Sheet
The Boathouse Hotel is the only truly boutique resort on the island of Phuket, with just 36 rooms and suites, a terrace-style restaurant, air-conditioned dining room, elegant bar and lounge, and a very private swimming pool and large Jacuzzi.

The Boathouse Hotel offers every convenience available in a first class resort, as well as personalised service that is hard to find nowadays.

M.L. Tridhosyuth Devakul, one of Thailand's foremost architects and entrepreneurs, introduced The Boathouse Restaurant on Phuket island in 1982.

It soon became renowned both locally and internationally for its excellent Thai cuisine and seafood. The name is derived from the hand painted native "long-tail boat" displayed under a rattan roof which decorated the entrance.

In 1987, M.L. Tridhosyuth added the 36 hotel rooms and changed the name to The Boathouse Inn and Restaurant. On February 9, 1989 the resort was opened officially by General Prem Tinsulanonda, the privy councillor and elder statesman.

The focus is still on fine dining, though, and the unique "above ground wine cellar boasts the most diverse selection of quality labels on Phuket. The Boathouse's reputation for excellent cuisine is such that Executive Chef Tummanoon shares his expertise with guests at weekend culinary workshops.

Since its opening The Boathouse has served guests from around the world, including royalty, diplomats and rock stars.

The opening of the Boathouse Art Gallery and the selection of The Boathouse as the venue for regular meetings of The Chao Phraya River Club have made it popular with resident expatriates looking for a more cosmopolitan and sophisticated lifestyle than Phuket generally offers.

All 36 rooms and suites are facing the sea (maximum 25 metres from the beach!), and are decorated in the finest Thai style. They all have a balcony, self-controlled air-conditioning, minibar plus coffee and tea facilities.

Rooms also have satellite TV with remote control, a program of in-house movies and piped music, radio and individual safes. Bathrooms have bath tub and shower, hair-dryer, bathrobes and a range of the finest toiletries. Valet and laundry service are available.

In addition to our private pool and health centre, The Boathouse offers the Island Lounge and Library for cocktails at sunset, the Boathouse Boutique, and a Jacuzzi.

In a peaceful tropical environment, we feature a small fitness room, and traditional Thai massage by a team of certified professionals.

The Boathouse is also well known for its cultural activities: an Art Gallery featuring paintings, ceramics and silver jewellery, the monthly literary society, occasional design and painting classes, etc. Executive Chef Tummanoon also shares his expertise with guests at weekend culinary workshops.

Only one hour jet from Bangkok and 45 minutes from Phuket International airport, The Boathouse enjoys an idyllic location right on unique and unspoiled Kata Beach.

Kata beach is widely regarded as the prettiest of Phuket's beaches and is the central of the three famous horseshoe bays on Phuket's West Coast.

Car rental, tours, excursions by road or by boat, diving and golfing can all be arranged. Tennis Courts are available a short distance from the hotel.

Phuket is the largest island in Thailand. At 540 square kilometres, it's about the same size as Singapore.

The Andaman Sea, separated from the Bay of Bengal by the Andaman-Nicobar Ridge, is part of the Indian Ocean.

Thailand's Andaman coast extends for 870 kilometres from the Surin Islands on the northern border with Burma to Tarutao National Park on the southern border with Malaysia.

Hundreds of islands are accessible to small craft from Phuket, many of them uninhabited, many of them forested and fringed with spectacular coral reefs. You often won't find a footprint on the beach.
